Powerful and overlooked, “Emma Amos: Color Odyssey” at the Philadelphia Museum of Art reveals an innovative and feisty woman artist

I am a fan of colorful, abstract art, so was immediately struck by the work of Emma Amos when I came across it on artblog. Luckily the exhibit is running very close to home, at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and I hope to visit before the exhibit ends on January 17th. I hope to view her work and learn more about the challenges African American women artists faced in the 60’s.
