I read an article on hyperallegric.com this week which showcased Ben Grosser’s recent work. Grosser took on the topic culture of social media. His exhibition challenged how FaceBook has transformed from a social media platform to a gargantuan media juggernaut through mockery. Apart of this exhibition, Grosser designed a extension which simplifies the FaceBook platform into a bunch of shapes and broken buttons. I thought it was super interesting how Grosser used quite an unorthodox method of “art” but still managed to communicate his frustration. This exhibition made me realized how direct art can be and how different methods of expression can be but how effective they can remain.
