“Sunrise” is an illustrated poem by Evan M. Cohen. The illustrations all have a gentle, flowing style and tend to show transformations that depart from reality, like hands morphing into flowers. I thought the artwork was really beautiful, and I enjoy seeing how the artist uses the panels in order to depict dreamlike transformations and shifts. This work also made me think of how we connect different images with ideas, which makes the sun, stars, hands, and flowers all fairly powerful symbols. The artist utilizes those symbols in order to create a visual representation of the message, while enhancing the themes and emotions expressed in the poem itself.

Here is a page where you can read the whole poem and see all of the illustrated pages. Click here for the artist’s website.
