Oscar Oiwa Brings New 360-Degree Mural to USC Pacific Asia Museum

This mural, created by hand using Sharpie markers, immediately caught my eye through its use of negative space and intricate detail. I was confused by the purpose of the bed (which seemingly blends into the mural), and was surprised to read that this mural was designed as a 360 degree dreamscape… Although the room is beautiful and certainly has features of a comforting “dream-like” room (with the nature and calming foliage), it also looks incredibly unsettling with its sharp black/white color scheme. Personally, I’m not sure I could fall asleep here… unless the smell of Sharpies knocked me out!
