This weekend, I visited the Barnes Foundation, where I saw the Suzanne Valadon exhibit. I have been thinking about it ever since: the model, rebel, painter, as they very aptly labeled her. Her story in and of itself is fascinating, but her talent as a painter is also incredible. Different aspects of her work remind me of so many of my favorite artists, including Alice Neel (in her use of color), Matisse (in use of line), Van Gogh (in use of texture), Degas (in her focus on the female form). I definitely plan on seeking out other displays of her work.
