Our discussion on abstraction last week made me think of the fashion designer Rei Kawakubo, well known for her avant garde designs. Kawakubo is known to root all her designs in concepts, which has led to some of her most iconic designs including Rihanna’s Met Gala look in 2017. The dress, made of floral fabrics and hues of pink and red, brings the concept of a blooming flower to life with its circular pieces coming off the dress like petals of a rose.
