Peter Callesen makes miniature sculptures out of folded paper. Many of his works only use a single sheet of paper, but the level of detail included is incredible. These pieces made me think more about dimensionality in art, especially since these literally go between 2D (a single sheet of paper) and 3D (a sculpture). It’s also interesting looking at the cutouts in the sheet, and the way the sculpture and cutouts are placed on the page seem very deliberate. In his works that include people, the cutouts even seem like shadows that the figures cast on the ground. The cutouts can also act like negative space, and add more to the artworks.
