NASA converted a star’s corpse to sound

I found this article about NASA converting a star’s corpse to a sound representation. I thought this was particularly fitting as we are wrapping up our Field Gestalt Project. For our project, we converted an audio medium to a visual medium. NASA did the inverse, creating a sound from a visual medium. The artist, Kimberly Arcand, who created this project said the following: “Each sonification is created to best portray the scientific data in a way that makes the most sense for the specific data, keeping it accurately represented and telling the story, while also providing a new way of conveying meaning through sound.” She assigned certain tones to certain colors as well. I thought it was so cool, and her systematic method reflected the process that we used to make our Gestalt Recordings.
