“Drought” by Peter Hadfield & Cameron McKague

This collaborative book project between photographer Peter Hadfield and graphic designer Cameron McKague features 48 images of drained public swimming pools. It was intended to explore Western society’s relationship with water, as proceeds from the book were donated to a charity that sought to address water access issues in Indigenous Canadian communities. This project reminded me of the assigned Speculative Everything reading and the authors’ discussion of critical design and what design beyond hegemonic confines could be.
