Emojis and Iconography in the Modern Age

This week, we spent a lot of time talking about iconography and how we can clearly and concisely convey information through icons. This got me thinking about emojis and the role they play in our day-to-day lives. I know personally that a good laugh-crying emoji can take the edge off of a message that could be misconstrued to be more serious. This article takes a look at the history of what became the emoji as well as some more in depth numbers on the topic.
